First Bulgarian folklore festival in Cyprus

Sovatchii dance formation

The first Bulgarian folklore festival Sovatchii is taking place in Limassol, Cyprus today with the participation of Bulgarian folklore ensembles, vocal groups, orchestras, singers and instrumentalists from all over Cyprus.

The festival is organized and hosted by the dance formation Sovatchii from Limassol with artistic director Theodosy Theodosiev. The formation of 15 dancers, singers and musicians was only set up last year but has already performed to a local audience in Cyprus and has taken part in municipal and international festivals. Other participants in the festival include: Bulgari dance ensemble from Larnaka, schoolchildren from four Bulgarian schools in Cyprus – in Limassol, Larnaka, Nicosia and Paralimni - as well as Bulgarian folk singers living in Cyprus.
