President Rumen Radev: Levski would not want to see our heads bowed

On February 19 we mark the death anniversary of the Bulgarian Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski and we are used to saying that we come to this monument to bow our heads down. However, Levski would not want to see our heads bowed, this country’s President Rumen Radev said in his speech in front of Vasil Levski Monument downtown Sofia. It is time to stop seeking solace in history. It is time to stop taking dignity from the self-sacrifice of the heroes. Bulgaria’s dignity and freedom are neither inherited, nor possible to borrow. Each generation fights for them. Freedom of speech, fair elections and separation of powers which are the basis of democracy are abducted and vitiated. And today we ask ourselves it this the “pure and holy republic’ Levski fought for, President Radev further said in his speech.
