Foreign Minister Zaharieva: "Armin Laschet's statement is unacceptable"

The statement made by the Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia was unmeasured and unacceptable, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva commented on the words of Armin Laschet that Bulgarians and Romanians had imported the coronavirus into the region.

The virus knows neither borders nor nationalities, Minister Zaharieva added.

There are statements that one quickly regrets they made and it is dangerous to talk about guilt and blaming someone, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said. These are discussions that are taking place in Germany as well and we must be careful not to add fuel to the fire of such political trends, Mr. Maas added.
