"Last night’s events are not a way of out of the crisis, but a black hole, from which there is no way out! Who wants that?", Bulgaria’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs and current UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov wrote on Facebook, quoted by BNT. His post is on occasion of last night’s tension in Sofia when protesters broke the windscreen of a car which tried to drive through a blocked intersection. A woman and two small children were inside the car during the incident. “Bulgaria has always been an example of tolerance and sensible decisions. Democracy in Bulgaria is built on consent and dialogue, not on confrontations and clashes. Stop and think about what is happening with the young people’s protest. They went out in the streets free and demanded a modern and democratic Bulgaria with zero corruption and we must support them. We must support them against those who want to take advantage of their demands.”

In an interview for BNR on Tuesday morning, one of the initiators of the protests Arman Babykian hinted that it is possible that in the crisis situation Mladenov is prepared to replace Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
