Bulgaria wants the EU to finance its nuclear and gas facilities

At the European Council summit, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic will demand that the Just Transition Fund finances projects to replace coal-fired facilities with gas and nuclear energy, the European edition of Politico writes. According to Politico, the EU does not plan to invest in nuclear facilities, but only in renewable energy sources.

The Bulgarian position was formulated in November. Sofia will approve higher targets for reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions, but demands more compensations in return. The Bulgarian government demands smooth transition to a green economy and compliance with the national circumstances, while maintaining the competitiveness of the European economy, investor.bg informs.
