A council consisting of infectious disease specialists, epidemiologists and virologists will monitor the Covid-19 situation, Bulgaria’s newly-appointed Minister of Health Professor Asena Serbezova said for the BNR.

Vaccination should be voluntary. There must be an awareness-raising campaign and it must be conducted in a new way. Many people decided to stay away from vaccines, due to the lack of a communication campaign and the fact that vaccines appeared quickly and were subject to political talking, Minister Serbezova said.

"Vaccines are not 100% effective and no one has claimed that. Some of them are 94-95% effective. Others are 60% to 70% effective. However, 80% of the Covid-19 hospitalizations are among the unvaccinated, Minister Serbezova explained.
