Paraglider with multiple injuries rescued in Mount Rila

A mountain rescue team rescued a paraglider who was hurt in the region of Musala peak in Mount Rila.

The man, who sustained multiple injuries has been airlifted to a medical facility. According to preliminary information, he collided with the meteorological station at the mountain top, Marina Popova from BNR-Blagoevgrad reports.

Fourteen rescue operations to help 16 people with injuries have taken place in the last couple of weeks of 2022 alone. More than 100 mountain rescuers took part in the operations. Some of the main causes of these incidents are: underestimating conditions in the mountain, overestimating one’s own capabilities, insufficient knowledge of the mountain and unsuitable gear, the mountain rescue service says.
