An African-Caribbean cultural centre is opening as part of the existing African studies programme of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology at the St. Klimenty Ohridski University in Sofia, in cooperation with the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts, BNR’s Radio Sofia reports.
The aims of the centre are connected with academic exchange, promoting creative initiatives between Bulgaria, and the African and Caribbean countries. The centre will also host events presenting African and Caribbean art and culture, lectures, master classes, festivals etc.
An African-Caribbean panorama of student films opens today until 28 May, with the participation of lecturers from Kenya, Benin, Cameroon and South Africa – film directors, producers, screenplay writers. Admission is free. The films will be with subtitles in English.
