The Ministry of the Interior is looking for an option for the creation of a National Information System for the prevention and protection of paedophilia and a National Register of cases of paedophilia, for which an interdepartmental working group has been created. This was announced by the Minister of the Interior Atanas Ilkov at a hearing in the parliament.

The register must contain data on the perpetrators, type of crime, history of committed crimes, etc. According to the minister, data on those convicted of sexual assaults against minors are collected and stored in the Ministry of Justice, but the information should be uploaded into an information system meeting all modern needs. He did not say in what time frame it will be ready.

The registry was supposed to be ready by August 1, 2024.
