The protest of ground public transport workers in Sofia continues for a second day with demands for higher wages.
Protesters are demanding a salary increase of EUR 205 this year, EUR 255 next year, and EUR 307 in 2027. The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and the Confederation of Labor "Podkrepa" will meet with Mayor Vasil Terziev today at the Sofia Municipality, it became clear from Terziev's interview on bTV.

"I urge them to meet tomorrow and have a meaningful discussion, but not at the expense of the comfort of Sofia's residents. I will present the framework I want to offer them – it would bring us closer to the EUR 205 they are asking for, but in a different form. We are working on a 100% increase in the bonus for workers in electric and bus transport", said Vasil Terziev, clarifying that this does not apply to employees in the Sofia Metro and the Urban Mobility Centre.
According to Vasil Terziev, the gross salary of a train driver in the Sofia Metro is EUR 2454 without significant overtime, while in bus transport it is EUR 1994 with substantial overtime hours.
Today, unlike yesterday, will be a regular school day for all schools in Sofia. The municipality has called on school principals to show understanding toward students who arrive late.
The protest of Sofia's public transport workers will continue indefinitely
