"Solidarity Bulgaria" organization of former trade union leader Vanya Grigorova has launched a petition demanding that the retirement age not be increased above 65 years. At a press conference in Sofia, Grigorova, together with her colleague, Sofia municipal councilor Lyubomir Hristov, and former MEP Petar Vitanov, announced that the initiative under the title "Do not gamble with our old age" will collect signatures within the next month, after which they will be submitted to parliament.

The organizers put forward the following demands: cancellation of mandatory insurance in a private pension fund; abolition of the maximum social security income; increase of the minimum pension to 70% of the minimum wage; legislative changes establishing a minimum positive return on private pension funds.

By its decision, the parliament has already assigned 5 state institutions to prepare a roadmap for changes in the Bulgarian pension system within 6 months.
