“The music of Stefan Diomov has been helping me in all kinds of difficult moments and brought light to my soul.” This statement made by a listener from the town of Velingrad shows the great respect the maestro enjoys. Emblematic vocal groups such as Tonika and Tonika SV are part of his music career. Despite the fact we live in times of commercialism, Stefan Diomov continues to give joy to the fans of quality Bulgarian popular music. He tells more about his latest projects in an interview for Radio Bulgaria.

"Vanya Kostova is among the artists who are to perform during my upcoming concert that I have been organizing. It will be held on the second day of the Burgas and the Sea competition /02.08/. Toni Dimitrova, Orlin Goranov, Five Seasons, children's vocal choirs and others will perform too. I want to have a concert with all my loved songs. I will present my new songs too. Over the years, my work has become vast even for me. My friends joked that my big task was to choose which of the hits would not be included in the program. It is easy to do a concert with hits but newer songs bring great responsibility. I hope I will be able to achieve a balance and make people sing my new songs too.”

Burgas will be the starting point of Stefan Diomov’s tour to major cities in the country. “I want to offer the audience an updated arrangement of their favorite songs," he says.

How is a hit song created? Stefan Diomov says this is not an easy task:

"I can not say that I am one of those authors with a few but high quality songs. I have songs that I do not like much but for one reason or another they have been enjoyed. It is difficult to create a composition that has the potential to remain in the mind of the listener for years. I have always said that the song, no matter how short it is as a musical form, contains several elements. Without them, its promotion is impossible. There should be a nice melody, lyrics, arrangement and of course, precise musicians. Post-production is also important. Generally, there are a dozen of reasons behind the success of a song, and even more obstacles. To be honest, I like writing songs, but at the same time it is pretty hard work. I am proud that part of my work has been on air for more than thirty years now."

Stefan Diomov has been the leader of 5 different singing formations. It is not by chance that the last of them was named "Five Seasons." "In addition to the well-known four seasons, we decided to have the season of the heart," says Stefan Diomov about the name of the vocal quartet.
