Radio Bulgaria placed third in the 4 x 200 meters relay event, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Bulgarian National Radio. Team captain of Radio Bulgaria was Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency (BIA), Stamen Yanev. The relay, also known as the annual "Tour of Radio Sofia" took place after a 12-year-long pause.
Alexander Kichukov, who is editor in the Arabic section of Radio Bulgaria, ran the first leg and passed the baton to Alexander Markov from the English section of the radio. Virginia Stamatova from the Bulgarian section of RB ran the third leg, while lawyer Stamen Yanev ran fourth and showed remarkable speed, overcoming the distance in a record time.
Here's what Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio, Radoslav Yankulov, said about restoring the initiative:
“We created a wide range of events - concerts, meetings, exhibitions and performances that made the radio and its friends - our listeners, even closer. We should not lag behind when it comes to sports, as it is part of people’s life and every intelligent person should value these activities.”
Radio Bulgaria produces an original daily program in 11 languages that includes interviews, analyses and news.
