Photo: library

At its regular meeting in Brussels the budget committee of the European Parliament has approved the financial assistance that will be used for dealing with the consequences of floods in Mizia (northwestern Bulgaria) that took place in the summer of 2014. The assistance is part of the Solidarity Fund of the EU, which provides financial assistance in cases of natural disaster, if the damage exceeds 3 million euro or 0.6 percent of GDP. Aid for Bulgaria totals 1,983,600 euros and voting on it will take place during the July plenary session. The largest share of the emergency assistance is expected to be used for restoring the infrastructure, especially the water supply network.
