Christmas is eagerly awaited by all, but most of all by children who can’t wait for Father Christmas to bring them presents. Vanya Kostova with the Pim-Pam children’s vocal group sing “Hallelujah”. “This night the sky shall open up and the good angels shall sing… of a divine miracle that shall bring us joy…”
Folk songs from all parts of Bulgaria carry on the Christmas tradition. One of them, performed by the Mystery of Bulgarian Voices, is “Holy mother of God shall beget a child” - “…a bountiful year, healthy children, as much health in the home as there are stars in the sky, as good a harvest for this home as there is sand in the sea, as much health in this home as there is geranium in the forest…”
There can be no holiday season without classical music - “Waltz” by Pancho Vladigerov, performed by Valya Dervenska, violin.
Jazz singer Beloslava is also getting in the festive mood with a Christmas concert, featuring her song “Christmas heart” – “…Can you feel the fragrance of the snowy days in their winter slumbers, your footsteps at the door, don’t you see, under the Christmas tree, a box with a myriad of stars…”
