Code orange for dangerous weather and heavy snowfalls in Bulgaria

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology in Bulgaria has announced "code orange" for hazardous weather conditions over the weekend. Heavy snowfalls are expected in the regions of Kyustendil, Pernik, Sofia, Pazardzhik, Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, and Smolyan. Snow cover is expected to reach up to 20 cm and temperatures will be declining sharply.Code yellow was announced in 12 other regions of the country. Road authorities have called on motorists to avoid traveling unless necessary. Warnings for hazardous weather conditions have been issued in other Balkan countries too.
