Bulgarian Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov believes that women should not wear burkas in public places, and especially in schools and universities. Besides, for the time being the Criminal Code does not give enough tools to prosecutors while a more adequate reaction is needed regarding texts linked to propagating war. Tsatsarov was taking questions in Pazardjik where the trial continued yesterday against 14 Muslims accused of propagating anti-democratic ideology and war, the bTV channel reported. Taking a question whether a ban on burkas in public should be included in the Bulgarian legislation, Tsatsarov said: “Everybody is aware that traditional Islam is not militant. Here are we are talking about politics. A ban should be introduced for public places and especially for educational establishments. This should be discussed with utmost care, so as not to hurt religious feelings. We should not allow the religious motive to be used politically.”
