May 15: International Day of Climate

Photo: picture library

This year the International Day of Climate is marked with an ambitious target. It is the ratification of the agreement aimed to cut global greenhouse gas emissions. The Paris agreement aims to encourage countries to cut greenhouse gas emissions to levels that would help curb global warming to 2C. The agreement will be open for signature starting on 21 April 2017. Bulgaria is active regarding the general provisions for mitigating climate change and performs its EU commitments, the Ministry of Environment has said. By the end of last year the National Trust Ecofund financed energy efficiency projects for 90 public buildings in 39 municipalities, worth 32 million leva (about 16 million euro). This year the fund has received financing worth 14 million leva (7 million euro).
