The European Commission will not succumb to pressure from Turkey on the visa issue, said EC Vice-President Kristalina Georgieva. The requirement for biometric passports will not only increase security, but will also reduce the number of Turkish citizens benefiting from a future visa-free regime, she said in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio. The risk of shifting the influx of migrants via the Bulgarian-Turkish border is small, said Kristalina Georgieva, adding that Bulgaria was the first to feel the seriousness of this problem, of the refugee wave and many measures were taken here to better protect Bulgarian borders.
