The Ministry of Transport has opened the procedure for the concession of Sofia Airport. The term of the concession is 35 years and prospects are expected to offer at least 550 million leva (275 million euro) in a one-time payment at the beginning and 5% of the airport’s revenues as an annual fee. The basic requirements for the bidders include experience as operator of at least one international airport with at least 6 million passengers annually, experience in airport infrastructure construction and guarantees for financing. The concessioner is also obliged to carry out investments worth 150 million euro for a term of 35 years.
