Bulgaria’s journalist Monika Evstatieva who works as a producer at the American National Public Radio (NPR) has survived an attack against a military convoy in Afghanistan. A soldier and two members of her team- photojournalist David Gilkey and local translator Zabihullah Tamanna died during the attack. Evstatieva and correspondent Tom Bowman who travelled in another vehicle were unharmed. The journalists travelled with a unit of the Afghan army in the Southern part of the country when the convoy was struck by shell fire. From 2011 until 2012 Monika Evstatieva worked as a correspondent of the Bulgarian National Television in USA.
