World Blood Donor Day marked in Bulgaria

On the occasion of World Day of voluntary and unpaid blood donors, Sofia is to host a National conference on transfusion hematology. Meanwhile the Red Cross and the centers for transfusion hematology are launching a campaign for gratuitous blood donorship. Every day in Bulgaria around 600  need a blood transfusion. Blood donors have reached 170 thousand in the past three years, but 70 percent of them are relatives of patients, and volunteers are fewer.
