There has been a huge traffic jam at the Makaza border checkpoint between Bulgaria and Greece ever since the early morning hours due to intense traffic and the facility’s insufficient capacity. The queue has to wait for two hours on the Bulgarian side, in order to enter Greece and the car plates show registrations from across the country. Romanian vehicles have also joined the traffic towards the Aegean Sea. These traffic jams have turned into a tradition already over the weekends. On a forthcoming meeting next week the local Kirkovo Municipality and Border Police representatives will tackle the issue on the easing of the traffic over the summer.
