According to a public opinion survey carried out by Gallup International on the eve of the EU membership referendum in the UK, the Bulgarians continue to show high confidence towards the EU, yet the confidence is at its lowest level since Bulgaria entered the European Union in 2007. In June 48% of the respondents voiced confidence towards the EU and 38% of the surveyed Bulgarians were of the opposite opinion. Several months ago the level of confidence towards the EU was fluctuating around 60% and the mistrust rarely reached 30%. Meanwhile, most Bulgarians contend that the UK referendum would not influence their lives.
