Bulgarian Energy Minister says experts should discuss options for "Belene" NPP project

Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova has proposed that Bulgarian and Russian experts should discuss options to resolve the case with the project for construction of the "Belene" NPP in Bulgaria and to propose a solution as soon as possible. The minister has sent a letter to the management of Russian corporation "Rosatom," which is a side in the project, to determine the composition of the Russian working group in discussions. Directors and experts of the Bulgarian Energy Holding and the National Electric Company of Bulgaria will take part in the discussions. Following the decision of the international arbitration in Geneva, Bulgaria must pay the Russian side almost 620 million euros for equipment produced for frozen Belene nuclear power plant project.
