The 113th anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie uprising and the 120th anniversary of the organized Thracian movement in Bulgaria will be marked in the locality Petrova Niva that is connected with these events. Dozens of descendants of Thracian refugees and hundreds of Bulgarians are expected to attend the events throughout the day that include folklore concerts, quizzes and literary readings.
“There will be folk concerts, a tourist hike with a mountain guide,” said Todor Angelov, chairman of the Exarch Antim I Thracian Society for the Bulgarian National Radio. “At 3 PM we shall hold our traditional science conference dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the organized Thracian movement in Bulgaria. At 4 PM there will be an open-air reading room, followed by a quiz about the the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie uprising with lots of prizes.”
At 8 PM a memorial service will be held at the St. Petka church followed by the official opening of the commemoration.
