Most people would perhaps wonder how their portraits painted by celebrated artist Pablo Picasso would look like, or how Van Gogh would reproduce the view from their house terrace. The new Bulgarian mobile application Lucid allows users to change each photo on their smartphones with an image painted in the style of some of the world's most celebrated painters. The application was created by IT experts Georgi Stoyanov and Nikola Irinchev in twenty odd days only.
“Users can take their own photos and later choose painting styles of some of the world's most celebrated artists. For instance the photo can be shaped in Picasso's or Van Gogh's style. Thus, it looks the way some of those painters would depict it. We have been constantly improving the quality of our mobile application. We are still experimenting and the list of world painters has changed. Initially we started with Wassily Kandinsky, Vincent van Gogh, Picasso and several other names. We are trying to offer different painting styles, so users can build different perceptions”, Georgi Stoyanov told Radio Bulgaria.
Lucid uses innovative technology for artificial intelligence which simulates the brain functions of given painters, thus changing the selected photos. The application is free of charge and can be used by Android, iOS and other new operation systems. What made Georgi Stoyanov deal with such a project?
“My strong interest in arts, especially in the works of the world's most celebrated painters made me develop that application. When I was a child I also wanted to become a painter, but unfortunately I did not have enough talent. However, I can make art through Lucid application. I have been studying researches of artificial intelligence and one of them set the beginning of our new project. We did our best to make the interface as simple and intuitional as possible.”
Lucid application has been gaining world popularity and the users' comments are extremely positive. The number of users who share their changed photos in the social networks has been constantly on the rise and Lucid has been attracting new fans on a daily basis. What users can expect in the future? More from Georgi Stoyanov:
“Our next step is to enable users to create artistic videos themselves, for example a short video in Van Gogh style. This is all I can say at the moment. I will keep the rest as a surprise for our users”, Georgi Stoyanov concludes.
