Comments by Russian TV presenter and future member of the parliament and part of United Russia Party, Pyotr Tolstoy, that Russia would buy Bulgaria as it had done with half of its coast, sparked outrage in Bulgaria. Pointing out that the statement was "arrogant, totally wrong and that it did not contribute in any way to the development of bilateral relations," Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov expressed expectations that the official Russian institutions will dissociate from comments by Mr. Tolstoy. Otherwise, it would mean that Russian institutions shared the Bulgarian opinion that no attention should be paid to this person, the Foreign Minister wrote in Facebook.
