Bulgaria needs EUR 2.7 billion to decommission old nuclear units in Kozloduy NPP

Bulgaria needs EUR 2.7 billion to complete the decommissioning of the four old nuclear units in Kozloduy NPP, a report of the European Audit Office shows. EUR 348 million from the abovementioned amount is national financing and the rest of the money will be collected under different EU programmes. Data also show that by 2020 the EU is to allot to Bulgaria EUR 1.14 billion. 31% of the money will be paid by the state budget. The latest report of the European Audit Office shows that the buildings which accommodated the old nuclear reactors are yet to be demolished. The audit office also adds that the current financial deficit in Bulgaria amounts to EUR 28 million.
