Sofia: Balkan state borders final, not subject to dispute

In connection with criticism over the absence of a Bulgarian reaction to words of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan interpreted as claims on regions populated by ethnic Turks, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov has said that no responsible politician could possibly dispute the present-day borders in the region. According to the minister, in his criticized statement Erdogan has made a clear distinction between the state borders in the region saying he respects them, and the so-called borders in his heart. What could be worrying is the obvious discrepancy of Turkey’s state borders with the borders in the heart of its president, Daniel Mitov has commented and has added that state borders are final and all regions have vowed to respect them by way of international treaties.
