Outgoing Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova stated in a televised interview that at this time, there is no migrant pressure along Bulgaria’s borders and that last week only two people were intercepted while trying to enter the country illegally.
Minister Bachvarova once again denied allegations that new refugee camps would be built, adding that some existing sites close to the border would be used for the temporary accommodation of no more than 200 people. There migrants will spend up to one month, while the procedures for granting permanent residence status are taking place. If such status is not granted, they will be sent back to the countries they came from.
