On occasion of the indictment against Bulgaria’s former Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Traycho Traykov Capital daily quotes on Wednesday a post in the social networks of Bulgaria’s former Ambassador to Russia and current energy consultant Ilyan Vasilev who said that it didn’t matter what the indictment against Traykov was. The purpose of the media of notorious media tycoon Delyan Peevski was to discredit Traykov and incapacitate him of taking part at the forthcoming Parliamentary elections. Otherwise, Bulgaria’s Chief prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov knows that none of the politicians who recently received indictments would be sentenced, Ilyan Vasilev adds.

According to amendments to the Criminal Code tabled to the National Assembly in the last working day of 2016, hackers who infect an information system with an internet virus could be sentenced to jail for up to 4 years or pay a fine of EUR 3000, Sega daily informs on its first pages. The recent measures came as a response against a series of hacker attacks against public web sites on the eve of the local elections in 2015, the newspaper further writes.

The state authorities deprived 191 young Bulgarians of child benefits, because they became young grandmothers, data of the Agency for Social Assistance quoted by Monitor daily show. Parents of underage mothers have not been able to receive child benefits since 2016. This is one of the cabinet’s measures against the phenomenon “children give birth to children”. According to the social services, each year nearly 800 Bulgarian girls give birth before turning eighteen.

Student applicants will be able to study Bulgarian Philology if they pass successfully a foreign language exam. This measure is part of the amendments planned by the Sofia University Saint Kliment Ohridski, Telegraph daily informs on Wednesday.

People should refrain from travelling across Bulgaria at the end of this week, the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior announced. The meteorological services are forecasting storms, plenty of snowfalls and freezing temperatures of up to -20 C, Standart daily writes. The authorities will close some mountain passes due to the expected bad weather conditions, in order to prevent possible piling of vehicles.

Not all people are complaining of the rapid decrease of the air temperatures, 24 Chassa daily informs on its first pages. Citizens of Bulgaria’s capital Sofia are taking advantage of the opportunity to play ice hockey over the fish-breeding pond near Pancharevo Lake which was covered with ice.
