Danube freezes over completely near Rousse

This morning the ice formation on the Danube and the huge ice blocks stopped the river flow completely in the region of Rousse.

At this time there are no ships in distress, the city’s maritime administration says. There are several towed vessels stranded in the ice. The last time there was such a complete freeze-up was in 2012 when the ice inflicted a great deal of damage on vessels, navigation signs and waterfront developments.
