Melnik hosts Golden Grapes festival

БНР Новини

Today and tomorrow the smallest town in Bulgaria – Melnik – will be hosting the festival of Melnik wine Zlaten Grozd (Golden grapes).

The festival will feature demonstrations, wine-tasking and a host of surprises for wine lovers. Owners of wine cellars in the region and local wine makers will display their best wines. A jury of experts will single out the top brands of wines; there will be a second competition for homemade wines in the Broad-leaved Melnik Vine and Bouquet categories.

Local folklore groups and ensembles will present folklore traditions connected with vine growing and wine making. The audience, which will take part in “blind” tests will also single out its own winner. Guests to the festival will be able to visit the museum of wine where admission will be free during the festival days.
