The Central Election Commission (CEC) has decided to open 371 polling stations in 70 countries for the parliamentary elections on 26 March. The greatest number will be in Great Britain – 58; in USA and Turkey there will be 35 polling stations, in Germany – 13, in Greece – 21, in France – 15.
There are nine countries where no polling stations will be opened, said CEC spokesman Alexander Andreev for the Bulgarian National Radio and explained:
“In view also of the letters received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs they are – Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria, where there exists a high military risk and a risk to the lives and safety of citizens, as well as a danger to the process of organizing the election process. For other countries such as Ethiopia, the DPRK, Mongolia, Pakistan and Indonesia, due to the negligible number of Bulgarian citizens residing there or the fact there is a state of emergency in place; for example in Ethiopia where there are communication problems and the situation is unpredictable and could pose a risk to Bulgarian citizens and to the election process.”
