Bulgaria to expand capacity of Danube Bridge border checkpoint in Ruse

Bulgaria will launch a public procurement order aimed at expanding the existing capacity of Danube Bridge border checkpoint in Ruse, Bulgaria's caretaker Premier Ognyan Gerdzhikov said during his visit at that checkpoint on Saturday. Bulgaria’s and Romania’s cabinets will meet in April at the latest, in order to discuss general terms related to all border checkpoints between the two countries. The Bulgarian authorities are planning to build Zone East of Danube Bridge which would serve all passenger vehicles entering the country. The measure will alleviate traffic at the border checkpoint. Currently, part of the heavy traffic on Bulgarian territory is due to the sale of vignette stickers, and we should follow Romania’s example which already introduced electronic vignette system, Premier Gerdzhikov said.
