Criminal group engaged in distribution of counterfeit Euro notes neutralized in southwest Bulgaria

A criminal group was neutralized in a joint operation of Bulgaria’s Chief Directorate Combating Organized Crime and the Prosecutor’s Office on the territory of Petrich and Sandanski (Southwest Bulgaria). The criminal group was engaged in the distribution of counterfeit Euro notes and drugs. According to the evidence collected until now, the criminal group has been functioning since November 2016. Its members imported large quantities of EUR 20 and EUR 50 notes from Italy and sold the fake banknotes at a 20% discount mainly in Petrich and Sandanski area. The criminal group was also engaged in the distribution of drugs, mainly marijuana.
