During his meeting with Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos in Athens, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev insisted that the two countries construct the gas interconnection between the two countries within the deadlines set down, build on the infrastructure of the existing border checkpoints between Bulgaria and Greece and put up new ones, the press centre of the presidency in Sofia has announced.

“Developing energy and transport connections is essential to enhancing commerce and tourism, trade between the two countries in 2016 reached the sum of 3 billion euro and these indexes obligate the two countries to continue to promote the contacts among businesses,” the Bulgarian President stated. As an indicator of the existing goodneighbourly relations, he pointed out that last year Bulgaria was visited by 1.1 million Greek nationals and Greece – by 1.2 million Bulgarians.
