Bulgaria is open to joint package tours along the Western Silk Road

Representatives of the 33 countries, members of the World Tourism Organization are in Sofia to take part in the second edition of the international workshop Western Silk Road.

Addressing the participants, Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova stated that Bulgaria was open to participation in joint package tours with the countries lying along the western portion of the historical Silk Road from Europe to China.

“The Ministry of Tourism regards the initiative as a good opportunity to establish the country as a cultural and historical destination,” Angelkova said further. The participants in the workshop are making analyses to establish which the most frequented sites are, and on the basis of these analyses, to determine the cultural and historical sites that should be a priority along the Western Silk Road.
