A to JazZ festival kicks off in Sofia on 7 July

For the seventh year running the A to JazZ festival is presenting a delightful programme, featuring some of the top names in world jazz, as well as elite Bulgarian musicians.

From 7 to 9 July, audiences will be able to enjoy four concerts each night at the open-air stage in Southern Park 2 in Sofia, between The Earth and People Museum and Spartak swimming pool.

The event will kick off with the Big Band of the Pancho Vladigerov National Music Academy with conductor Mihail Yossifov. The renowned trumpet player is also a member of the RomaNeno project, which will be performing the same night. Last in the lineup for July 7th will be the jazzmen from the Swedish trio Dirty Loops which plays a colourful blend of pop, classics and jazz.

The show on 8 July features the Bulgarian formation Jazzanitza with frontman Bobby Petrov. The last act for the night will be Grammy award winner Robert Glasper and his Robert Glasper Experiment project featuring acclaimed musicians.


The last night, 9 July will be just as exciting, with the performances of the international Uvira/Bruno/Hafizi Trio and the winner of 4 Grammy awards, the amazing double bass player Christian McBride and his band Christian Mcbride's New Jawn.

For the first time this year there will be a children’s programme - A to JazZ Kids. At 10.30 on 8 and 9 July in the same park, children will be given an opportunity to find out all they need to know about different musical instruments and even play along with the guest performers.
