The draft of the good neighbour agreement with Macedonia has been submitted to the MPs from the foreign policy committee, GERB party has announced.
According to PM Boyko Borissov this is an unprecedented step. Borissov's position comes in response to yesterday's letter by Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Kornelia Ninova in which she proposes that the agreement be discussed by the National Assembly. The Bulgarian prime minister specifies that parliament gets acquainted with the text of any agreement only after it is signed when the document is submitted for ratification.
Earlier GERB stated that the draft of the agreement with Macedonia had been submitted to the confidential registry of the National Assembly on 3 July and any MPs wishing to are able to get acquainted with it. The party adds that it is the government’s aim to conclude the negotiations on the document and proceed to signing it without going back on the Bulgarian proposals.
