In Rome, President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and President of Italy Sergio Mattarella have agreed to cooperate in order to find a new approach to tackling migratory pressure on Europe, taking into account the need for solidarity with countries at the EU's external borders. The two countries would also work for changing the unfair decision requiring immigrants to be returned to the countries where they were first registered.
This became clear from the words of Bulgarian President Radev after meeting his Italian counterpart. President Mattarella has expressed support for Bulgaria's Schengen bid and voiced Italy's readiness to provide software needed in the fight against financial fraud, corruption and organized crime to Bulgaria for free.
Ways for easing administrative burden for the business with the aim of increasing bilateral trade, which in the past year reached 4.2 billion euro, were also discussed. Over the past 20 years, Italy has invested more than 1.5 billion euros in the Bulgarian economy.
