Bulgaria and Greece are to establish a joint company, in order to build a new transport corridor that will connect 3 Greek and 3 Bulgarian ports via a railway link. In the presence of Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov and Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras the Ministers of Transport of the two countries Ivaylo Moscovski and Christos Spirtzis signed today a memorandum of cooperation under that project. Bulgaria and Greece will build a new railway connection between the Greek ports of Thessaloniki, Kavala and Alexandroupolis and the Bulgarian ports of Varna and Burgas on the Black Sea and Ruse on the Danube. According to Premiers Borissov and Tsipras, the future transport corridor is important for Bulgaria and Greece, as well as for the whole region. In October Bulgaria and Greece will discuss whether to include Serbia and Romania in the project. During his visit to Greece Premier Borissov also discussed with his counterpart Tsipras the forthcoming Presidency of Bulgaria of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2018, as well as the migration crisis in Europe.
