The amendments to the Local Taxes and Fees Act related to the increase of the waste tax will raise considerably the expenses of the Bulgarian households, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria warns. The syndicate insists that the planned amendments to the waste tax should be compensated with other amendments which would reduce tax burden on the poor groups of the Bulgarian population. CITUB also states that purchasing power of the Bulgarian citizens is not equal to the purchasing power of the population in Western Europe where high waste taxes are imposed. If Bulgaria’s authorities increase waste tax, they have to introduce personal allowance equaling the minimum monthly salary in Bulgaria as well as maximum insurable earnings equaling 10 minimum monthly salaries, CITUB further states. Meanwhile, , the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria insists that the authorities should introduce family taxation which would encourage birthrate.
