There should be a high representative for food safety in each EU member state, the EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis has proposed on occasion of the distribution of eggs contaminated with fipronil in many EU countries, including Bulgaria. Commissioner Andriukaitis specified that this idea has been subject to discussions.
