Bulgaria has moved from 50th to 49th position in the Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum. This country is ahead of a number of countries that joined the European Union in 2004, as well as Romania. However, the population of Bulgaria declines by 100,000 every year. Moreover, Bulgaria has dropped a position in comparison to last year’s report when it comes to institutions. The report finds them cumbersome and deeply corrupt. The Bulgarian judicial system is also seen as highly dependent and inefficient, and it receives the lowest rating.
