President Rumen Radev attended the memorial service honouring the memory of the fallen Bulgarian soldiers on Archangel All Souls' Day. The liturgy was performed at the military ossuary-mausoleum at the Central Sofia cemetery. The ceremony was attended also by Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov, Chief of Defence lieutenant general Andrey Botsev, politicians, diplomats and guests.

The Bulgarian head of state commented on the funding earmarked for defence in the 2018 draft budget. In his words, the increase envisaged cannot solve the army's problems:

“This is an effort by the government and attention accorded to this sector, but after so many years of oblivion I don't think these efforts can solve the problem at this time. I expect the attitude to the army, to all problems, most of all to the problems of the people in the army and their training to be an attitude of statesmanship,” President Radev said.

Archangel All Souls' Day was also marked in Varna with a military ritual at the monument to the officers and soldiers who died in the wars.
