It is our ambition during the Bulgarian EU Presidency to make the European Union stronger and more stable, said PM Boyko Borissov at a joint sitting of the Bulgarian government and the European Commission focusing on the country’s upcoming rotating Presidency in the first half of 2018.

Bulgaria’s efforts will be focused in three principal directions: consensus, competitiveness, cohesion, the Bulgarian prime minister emphasized. Borissov pointed to the problems of security and migration, environmental protection, enhancing Europe’s role internationally as important issues a solution to which is yet to be found. He also described improving the EU’s competitiveness and consolidating the single market as vital priorities to the public and to businesses.
