In Sofia, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev met with EP President Antonio Tajani and with chairs and representatives of political groups in the European Parliament. The Head of State said that when holding the Presidency of the Council of EU, Bulgaria would not be pursuing its own narrow national interests but would be a partner and mediator in solving challenges the European community faces.

Speaking about one of the priorities for Bulgaria, namely the European integration of the Western Balkan countries, President Radev pointed out that this country will use all its accumulated experience as a member of the EU to work for the stability and integration of the Western Balkans, as the EU was interested in security and prosperity of the region.

The Bulgarian President also recalled that the citizens of Bulgaria are one of the strongest supporters and advocates of EU unity. Bulgaria's readiness to join the Schengen area was also confirmed during the meeting.
