Nearly 900,000 Romanian tourists have visited Bulgaria for the first nine months of this year, which is a 1.1-percent rise in comparison to the same period last year. This was announced by First Secretary and Head of the economy and commercial office at the Bulgarian embassy in Romania, Ivaylo Marinov.
There is still no way to tell how many Romanian tourists are expected to visit Bulgaria’s winter resorts. Recently, however, a tourism exhibition for winter tourism has taken place in Bucharest and according to Bulgarian tour operators, prospects for a rise in the number of tourists were very good.
According to Mr. Marinov, in addition to tourism, growth is also observed in exports and imports between the two countries, with hopes for trade to exceed 4 billion euros this year. Bulgaria and Romania mostly trade in the spheres of machine building, petroleum, agricultural and food products.
